Clarification Post

I urge everyone that reads this to do the same, if you can, it would make me less confused! :-)

This is to clarify WHO I know and WHO I don't know:

(ok, coming back up here to say, I got through three bloggers and said they all totally rock, and they do, but I realized all of you do, so I'm not going to say whether someone rocks or not, because I don't want to offend anyone, so YOU ALL TOTALLY ROCK!)

Doug, Jody, Brenna: I know them personally, have met the face to face. Doug worked where I am currently working for a little bit. If you ever need to do anything in Ames, I would LOVE to watch Brenna. They totally rock!

Meritt: I know her and her family personally, have met them face to face once, twice soon here. I met her through blogger though, and I'm glad I did, she totally rocks!

J: I do not know her personally, I have not met her face to face. I met her thorugh blogger, I don't remember how I got to her site...she totally rocks!

YankeeBob: I have not met him face to face, I do not know him personally. I got to him through Meritt's blog.

Jarod: I do not know him personally, I have not met him face to face. I got to him through Jody, who is his sister.

Matt: I do not know him personally, I have not met him face to face...yet. He lives in Iowa City and owns his own theatre there. I will go down to see a show sometime, just don't know when! I don't remember how I got to his blog.

Sharkey: I DO know her personally, I HAVE met her face to face...once. She is my wife's cousin and a couple years ago when we were up and over there I met her.

LZ: Have not met her face to face, do not know her personally. She is a friend of J's and that's how I got to her blog.

EJ: Have not met her face to face, do not know her personally. She is a friend of J's and that's how I got to her blog.

Carrie: Have not met her face to face, do not know her personally. She came to me through Meritt, I had read her blog once previously I think, because I had her bookmarked.

Those are the "Regulars"

HAVE MET--DO KNOW:

Doug/Jody/Brenna "Iowa Geek"
Meritt "Coffe Talking"
Shark Like a Fox

HAVE NOT MET--DO NOT KNOW PERSONALLY:

J "Daily Rambles"
Yankeebob
Matt "Thought from the Oasis Amidst the Corn"
Jarod "One Brick Shy"
LZ "Chew on This"
EJ "Life in the Background"
Carrie "Texas Ducks"

AND: I would love to meet the ones I have not met! So hopefully sometime it can happen for us!

I feel like I have so much to say!

There are things I remember I wanted to say earlier but forgot to. There are things from this weekend I want to talk about. There is some controversial stuff that I'll never utter on this blog and there's some other stuff I know I'm forgetting already.

The Past that I forgot:

Have you seen the movie Saw? Well, if you haven't, I'd suggest it!!! Damn was that movie good. I saw it two weekends ago. It isn't gory scary, it's just more thriller and twisted, f'ed up sort of movie. I watched it really late, of course, and when the movie was over I thought...well, f'ed up movie, very good, but I don't think I'll ever need to see that again. Then I woke up the next morning and thought....wow, I kind of think I wouldn't mind owning that movie so I can watch it again and show it to people who haven't seen it! Some wicked crazy plot twist in that movie.

The Present:

  • I'm sick. Darnit all. Whatever Kaia and V had they gave to me. I just got over being sick for a month. I got through the worst of it Saturday...and for some reason I threw up Saturday at 6:15am...I never throw up and I dind't really feel like I needed to, but I woke up and ran to the bathroom and did. Somehow my body must have known I needed to.

  • Oscars: Yeah...so I like them. I know it's "cool" to not like them and to hate Hollywood and all that, but so what. I like celebrities, I like movies, I like hot women and cool guys. I watched all of the Oscars with my wife and my mom and dad. We had a good time. I don't really care too much for Chris Rock, but some of the stuff he said was funny. Especially "Now next is the only woman to ever breast-feed an apple." In reference to Gwenyth Paltrow. I thought it was dumn of Sean Penn to go up there and defend Jude Law...it was just a stupid poke by Chris Rock, who cares? I still think Jude Law is a good actor, and no one takes the hosts jokes seriously, you just laugh and move on. I think Hilary Swank has some really nice boobies...even if her face does look a bit like a guy. Natalie Portman can still be my sex buddy, I'd have no problem with that. Some nice speeches, nothing really to comment on there. Samuel L. Jackson is one bad mofo, he's the shit. Morgan Freeman is awesome too. I haven't seen: The Aviator, Million Dollar Baby, Hotel Rwanda, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Finding Neverland, Ray, POTO... oh wait, I haven't seen ANY of the movies yet...so that sucks.

SO many movies I need/want to see still.

  • Damn Iowa State...why can't you just hold on to the lead?!

  • Kansas...that was a good game! Now, see, I don't care about basketball at all, but I do watch Iowa State play. After that my dad and I were looking at what else was on and the Kasas game was on and he said, "Oh, that'll be a good game." So since there was nothing else on I watched it. He fell asleep, and that sucks because it was a good game and I would have liked to yell at the TV with him for that game, but it was a good one!

    Controversial Stuff:

    Nope...I don't think so.

    Stuff I Have Forgotten Already:

    Yeah...exactly...I can't remember...

    My brain is female?!

Your Brain is 73.33% Female, 26.67% Male

    Your brain leans female

You think with your heart, not your head

Sweet and considerate, you are a giver

But you're tough enough not to let anyone take advantage of you!

I hate 'em but I'm going to do one...

Accent: I have no accent, I'm from Iowa.

Chore I hate: Anything with the kitchen...ANYTHING

    Dad's name: Ole

Essential make-up products: Um, on a girl? I don't know, my wife wears no make-up, but I kinda like eye shadow and mascara, sometimes it looks real hot, sometimes it looks real trashy.

Favorite perfume: Dud, is this totally a survey geared towards girls or what?

    Gold or silver?: Silver

    Hometown: Story City, IA

Interesting fact: I cry when I climax...no, I really don't, but wouldn't it suck to be one of those people that does?! I would just hate that...I think there's a Seinfeld episode about this.

Job titles: Claims Clerk...sucks doesn't it?!

    Kids: Just one.

Living arrangements: Me, Kaia and V in a 2 bedroom apartment that we hate.

    |

    DAMMIT

As much as I tried not to talk directly to Veronica or kiss Kaia directly on the lips, or touch whatever they had touched, or eat anything they had eaten off of, or sleep on anything they slept on, always washing my hands, I am getting this goll-darned mother trucking cold back. I just had it for a goll-darned mother trucking month and then they both get it and give it right back to me.

As you can tell I'm a little perterbd by it...I have to audition for a musical in two weeks and sing in a wedding in three...AAAAARRRGGGHHHHH...it hasn't come full on yet and I'm trying to prevent it, but I fear I will fail miserably at it...I absolutely LOATHE being sick.

    Titanic

I am just intrigued to no end by the Titanic.

I have always been interested in Titanic, but more so as I'm getting into Titanic: The Musical. It really is tied at #1 on my list of best orchestrations by a musical, along with Sweeney Todd. It's a beautiful musical, look into it!

I'm probably so infatuated by it because it's one of my biggest fears...the ocean in general, but then specifically being in a ship that capsizes or crashes in the ocea, and even more specifically a big mofo of a ship like Titanic.

Ughy Bughy...it just makes my skin crawl! My mom and dad said they're going on a cruise sometime and they said, "Hey, we'll just bring the whole family with" and I said I don't think I can go. Those cruise ships are HUGE, and if they start sinking or crashing or some shit, aaahhh, I just can't imagine. I know I'd be very calm and trying to find a way to survive, because I don't panic under pressure, but no way would I want to be near that ship and it gets sucked into the depths of the sea, and no way do I want to be floating in the ocean until, hopefully, someone comes to rescue me. It goes along with being terrified of whales and sharks. Anyhow, if they actually did want all of us to come on a cruise with them I'm sure I'd do it, but I don't think I'd be comfortable at all the entire trip.

So, enough tangent, the Titanic. It just fascinates me, but it pisses me off too.

Why didn't they just pack enough damn life boats?! They had the amount they had ot have under law for the largest ship they had under this law, but Titanic was so much bigger that they law didn't fit them, so Titanic just went by the rules for the largest ship under those rules. Also, back then, people equated life boats with the company somehow admitting that the ship wasn't as safe. (Did you know the same thing happened with cars and seatbelts? Companies didn't want to put seat belts in because somehow that would mean they were admitting their car wasn't as safe).

Besides not having NEAR enough lifeboats, it's something like not even enough for half the people, they didn't fill the first couple sets of lifeboats to the maximum anyway. One side was run by, I forget his name, but he took the rule "Women and Children First" literally and did not let anyone but the men to run the boat and women and children on and he couldn't fill the boats, so he just let them go. Many life boats went out not even close to capacity.

Why couldn't Mr. Andrews have seen his faults in his design of the Titanic and fixed them before Titanic set sail. "The bulkheads stop a deck to low" as he says in "Mr. Andrew's Vision" from Titanic: the Musical. Just read the lyrics to this song, it's amazing lyrics and then you should hear the music and the singing by Michael Cerveris:

    Mr. Andrew's Vision

JUST A CURSORY LOOK AT THE BLUEPRINTS HERE
SHOWS THE WEAKNESSES THAT WE HAVE MISSED
    HOW THE WATER POURED IN
    A THREE-HUNDRED-FOOT GASH
AND CAUSED THE BOW TO FLOOD AND TO LIST

AND THEN IT FILLED TO THE TOP
    OUR SEPARATE WATERTIGHT COMPARTMENTS
    AND BEGAN TO OVERFLOW...
    BECAUSE THE WALLS IN-BETWEEN COMPARTMENTS
    ARE TOO LOW!
SHE'S ONLY SINKING BECAUSE THESE BULKHEADS
    STOP A DECK TOO LOW!

    BUT HERE'S A THOUGHT! TAKE A LINE...
AND EXTEND UP THE WALLS TO THE BRINK...
    IT'S JUST A SMALL REDESIGN...
BUT WHEN IT'S DONE, THEN I KNOW SHE CAN'T SINK!
    LIKE THIS...LIKE THIS!...
(wildly erasing and redrawing lines on the blueprints)
    LIKE THIS!...AND THEN LIKE THIS!...

THE SHIP WILL START TO PLUNGE BENEATH THE SURFACE
THE WATER LAPPING AT OUR FEET
DOWN SINKS THE BOW, UP FLIES THE STERN
    TO THE SKY...
    THE PANICKED PEOPLE RETREAT
A THOUSAND STRONG, THEY'LL CLIMB UP
    TOWARD THE AFT DECK
    THEY'LL CLING THERE DESPERATELY
    LIKE BEES TO A HIVE!
    THERE THEY'LL HOLD FAST
    DOOMED TO THE LAST
    LOST AND ABANDONED AND ALL
    STILL ALIVE

A FEW OF THEM WILL HANG THERE
    FROM THE RAILINGS
AS, ONE BY ONE, THEY'LL DROP AWAY!
    MORE THAN TWO-HUNDRED-FIFTY FEET
    THEY WILL FALL
AND AFTER THAT, I CANNOT SAY
    I WILL NOT SAY...

THE REST, IN SWARMS, WILL OVERRUN THE BOAT DECK
THEY'LL LOSE ALL SENSE OF RIGHT AND WRONG
IT WILL BE "EVERY MAN FOR HIMSELF" ALL RIGHT!
THE WEAK THROWN IN WITH ALL THE STRONG!

FIRST CLASS, AND THIRD AND SECOND
    WILL MEAN NOTHING!
AND SHEER HUMANITY ALONE WILL PREVAIL
    ONE SINGLE CLASS
    BRUTE, HARSH AND CRASS
THAT'S WHAT WILL COME OF THE WORLD THAT SET SAIL

    AUTUMN...
SHALL WE ALL MEET IN THE AUTUMN?...
SHALL WE ALL MEET IN THE AUTUMN?...

It's an amazing song that gives you chills!

Why didn't they take the warnings of icebergs ahead more seriously? They got numerous warnings in and it is said that they change a little bit of a course but it was done by Captain Smith so they could get more of a direct shot to NYC, their final destination. More warnings came in throughout the night but the guys running the telegraph had gone to bed and didn't get the rest of the warnings and of all the warnings they did get half of them were never sent up to the captain because they were being flooded with personal messages from shore to all of the guests and running a telegraph up to the captain would take too much time and take them away from the other messages so they set them aside for a better time to leave their stations.

It was an odd night in that there was no moon and the crow's nest could barely see anything and by the time the iceberg was upon them there was nothing they could do. It is said to raise 6 to 7 stories high in the air and plunge 50 stories down into the ocean.

As Mr. Andrews says in "The Blame" from Titanic: the Musical -- "Ismay, I'm just in the business of building, it's God who sinks ships!..."

It was destined to happen, so many things going wrong, yet so many ways it could have been prevented. It just happened to strike the ship at the right place at the right speed and the right angle and just took the great ship Titanic down.

    It's amazing and amazingly sad...

There are three survivors left, 2 in the UK and 1 in the US.

If you type in Titanic in google you'll get some good sites with some good information on them.

The Titanic took off on April 10, 1912, struck the iceberg at 11.40 p.m. on Sunday, April 14, 1912 and sank 2 hours, 40 minutes later at 2.20 a.m. the next day.

There is so much to say about the Titanic I know I'm leaving out A LOT...but my favorite site is RMS Titanic, Inc. then click on FAQ and read away...

    Helipad Wonderment

    from Fayza's blog

This picture about makes me puke. Never in my life would I do that. Now I would play golf off of it as Tiger Woods got to:

but I would never play tennis on it, you have to run or jog to do that and...uh...no way...
Edited to add a better picture

    Chess

Have I ever mentioned that I love chess?

Well, I do. I love to play it, even if I don't always win, and I collect chess boards.

Well, if you're like me, you don't always have time or people to play chess with...that's when you go to Game Knot

It's a way to play chess online at your own pace, basically. You can set up the games to have anywhere from 1 day to 14 days to make your next move. So you can just check in on your games when you have the time.

It's hard because you have to remember what you did last and it's more distracting and all that, but it's the only way I can play chess right now. SOmetimes I log into Yahoo!Chess, but that requires time devoted to the computer and I don't usually have that.

I play mostly 3 day/move games. I have joined all games I currently am playing, or have been challenged, but you can set up your own games and wait for people to join you.

I'm currently in three games at once, and I think I'm goign to lose two and win one! lol...oh well.

To me it's definately not as good as playing live with a person, but it's still fun and still a way to keep playing.

    Hello

    How is everyone doing today?

I'm doing ok I guess. Bunch of stuff to do here at work to get ready for the annual meeting and adjuster's schools.

V and Kaia are both sick...V doesn't handle being sick very well, so that is just annoying at this point, but I won't go on about that. Poor Kaia has gotten up the past 3 nights and had something we had to attend to and so I am very tired from being woken up multiple times throughout the night. Sometimes I'd just wake up because the bed feels crowded and there was a child in there, sometimes even laying in between my legs on top of the covers or actually ON my legs. Poor little girl with a fever and coughing and stuffed up and runny nose and congestion :-(

I do absolutely hate my apartment now and want to move out SO bad. It's so cluttered and never clean and the temperature is all fucked up and I hate walkign down a hall to get to my door and I hate having to park outside and I hate how small our rooms are and how odd shapped our living room and dining room is and I hate our furniture and I hate our dishes and I hate our silverware and I hate our cups and I hate our cookingware and I hate our kitchen and I hate our bathroom and I hate our apartment owners and I hate that I don't want to know how much of a hassle it would be to break our lease and I hate that I don't know how to phrase it righ when I do call them to see how I can break my lease because I'm sure they are going to try to stick it to me, so until I know what it takes to break the lease I can't look for a new place because I can't commit on it because I don't know what it takes to break a lease.

Auditions for Music Man in Story City March 5 & 6. Then I sing at a wedding on March 19.

Is it true that there is alway something wrong to complain about but not always necessarily something good to comment on? I think I find that true in my life. Sometimes good things just aren't happening, but there is always something wrong or something I don't like so that's what ends up coming out here on the blog. My life really is that boring though, that there isn't really much to report.

    My Life:

    I get up
    Go to work
    Work
    Go home
V is at school or at work all night
Kaia and I do something until bed time
    Kaia goes to bed
    I watch TV
    V comes home
sometimes we watch TV, sometimes I'm in bed already
    Go to bed

that's really all there ever is...sure things happen in between that, but nothing much other than poeple getting sick or Kaia acting out this way or that way. If I get into Music Man then maybe I'll have something out of the normal happening in my life!

There is always TV to talk about, but eh...I read other poeple talking about American Idol or Desperate Housewives or Medium or Survivor or any of the other 500000 shows I watch, so I really don't need to also.

I didn't know if I was ever going to blog again, but I guess I am, and at this point in time I'm really just blabbing on and on, so I will stop!

    Jessica Alba News Alert!! (sarcasm)

Jessica Alba done sleeping around with Hollywood

This is along the same lines as Meritt's post on how we don't care what a celebrity, in Britain no less, names their child.

Jessica Alba is done sleeping around with Hollywood men...well, I guess that may be news to Hollywood men who were hoping to sleep with this hottie, but what the hell?! That's ALL the news story was about...it is, really, the most pointless news story I have even seen...

100 Things to Know About Me

I got this from Bob because I finally saw the link on his sidebar and decided I should give it a wack on this boring Friday.

1.) I'm pretty anal about some things. Some things just have to be a certain way.

2.) The ocean and everything in it frightens me. True phobia.

3.) I hate working, it doesn't matter where I'm at, I hate working.

    4.) I wish I was independently wealthy -- but it'll never happen.

5.) I almost died when I was born.

    6.) I love giving.

9.) I'm actually quite shy, until I can guage what kind of person you are or what kind of friend you could be.

    10.) I love TV.

11.) Whenever I'm asked to pick favorites for anything, I can't do it. I always feel bad for the rest of the things I don't pick as #1 favorite. I also think it gives an unfair light on me and my choices when I have to pick a favorite.

12.) There really are a lot of people I just can't wrap my brain around -- racists, homophobes, immature people, people who destroy things for no reason, killers, rapists, rude people, close-minded people, judgmental people to name a few.

    13.) I don't understand drinking.

19.) There are so many things I wish I could do.

20.) I tend to be closer to girls than guys, though I don't know why.

22.) If you want me to cook something for you, you better like meals out of a box.

23.) College was the best years of my life, so far.

    24.) I'm afraid to die.

25.) When I have to poop my butt sweats, and I find it quite hard and incredibly boring to poop without something to read.

27.) I want to own my own theatre some day, but I dont want the work of having to own my own theatre -- see #3.

28.) I like recognition -- I think this has a lot to do with being a theatre person.

29.) I love to spend money.

30.) I really love meeting new people.

31.) I love to show friends how much I like them and how much they mean to me, because it's true and I think it makes them feel good and I like to make people feel good.

32.) There are lots of things I don't share because I don't like being judged. I think people can't not like something about me and still like me.

33.) I get jealous a lot, but never of another guy and my wife, just everything else.

    34.) I love my family.

35.) I can't stand most fruit and basically every vegetable -- I don't know what I"m going to do when the doctor says I need to eat healthy.

    36.) I love hot chocolate.

37.) I always thought growing up that whatever woman ended up marrying me would be lucky she got me.

    38.) I'm a very kooky person.

39.) I love singing as much as I love theatre -- but lots of times they go hand in hand for me.

40.) Even though I'm only 24, I'm not sure what I think of my life so far.

41.) I wonder, if I were to die right now, what people would say about me after I was dead.

42.) Life would be so much easier if I had money, because I'm positive, without a doubt, I could be the same Lars I am now...just with lots of money.

43.) These things make me giddy: Theatre, singing, sex, love, tv, food, knowledge, women, boobs, money, friends, sleep.

44.) There are so many things I wish I could change about myself.

    45.) I don't understand smoking.

    46.) I don't understand drugs.

47.) I care way too much what people think of me and what they're saying about me.

    48.) I don't like confrontation.

    50.) I love being unique.

51.) I've never met someone famous -- I feel the experience would be surreal though.

52.) Some of the things I collect: Theatre books, theatre playbills, theatre ads, theatre memorabilia from shows, musical theatre cast recordings, "other" theatre recordings, books, mighty beanz, chess boards.

53.) I realize the things that are wrong with me, whereas some people, I believe, either don't want to admit it or truly don't know.

54.) As much as I don't like to clean, I can't stand to have a dirty home, but sometimes it just can't be helped.

55.) I always and without fail, explain something way more than I need to, go into too many details.

56.) I like lots of different music, I love music, I just tend to really not listen to anything but musical theatre cast recordings.

    57.) I don't like being embarassed.

    58.) I don't like being wrong when I'm positive I'm right -- it's embarassing.

59.) I love rollerblading, I have recreational skates and then agressive skates too, and back in the day I did some so-so daring jumps and what not.

    60.) I absolutely love chess.

61.) I've always wanted to be married and have kids. I told my best friend in July of 2000 how much I want to find the right person and settle down, get married and have kids...and then January 2001 I found out all of that was going to come true.

62.) Sometimes I feel bad about things I do, but I keep doing them.

63.) I love shopping -- pretty much no matter what it is, I love shopping.

64.) I have a lot of the same tendencies that girls have -- it is quite odd sometimes.

65.) I love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love sex.

66.) I can't pick favorites, see # 11, but Seinfeld and Cheers are close to perfection. However, right now I think Scrubs is the most witty, well-written television show.

67.) God, I love TV...I watch way too many shows!

68.) Even though I'm a theatre person, I don't critique theatre, tv, movies, etc. Though I can have some opinions on people's voices and acting...I'm far from a critic.

69.) My all-time place to visit (my heaven, if you will) is Broadway and NYC in general. I've been there once, briefly, very briefly. When my wife and I go on our honeymoon...it's going to be to Broadway.

70.) I absolutely love and thirst for knowledge, it feels so good to learn, to learn something new and to be able to retain information on all sorts of subjects.

71.) I'm a pack rat. I can't throw anything away...it's part of my collecting habit.

    72.) I believe in God.

73.) I love a good round of golf.

74.) I could name off quite a large number of actresses that make my privates tingle.

75.) I'm very consistent in my attitude...outwardly, I love being a happy person, even if it's not always true on the inside, when I'm around people I'm happy, and lots of times I'm happy by myself too. I can be thinking "God this day sucks" but if I'm around you I will have a good time, almost guaranteed.

76.) I hate crying, both from myself and from others.

77.) I love my friends, they make me happy.

    78.) I'm very impatient.

    79.) I sometimes have a short temper.

80.) If a Broadway show called me to come be in their show and pay me like a Broadway actor, I know my wife would want me to go, and I would go. Not because I don't like my wife or my child or because I'm selfish, but because it'd be a foot in the door to greater things for me, my wife and my child. And if at all possible, I'd move them out there with me and at least would see and talk to them every chance I got...and I don't think that makes me a bad husband or dad, because I and all of my friends know how much I love my girls.

81.) I love cats, I wish I could have my cat with us in our apartment...I miss coming home to a cat. As far as I"m concerned as soon as we can we'll always have at least one cat.

82.) I'm almost positive I have a higher sex drive than most normal people.

83.) I love shoes, what can I say?

84.) There are a number of things I've wanted to do professionaly: Doctor, Graphic Designer, 3D animator, Playwright, Composer, Inventor, Veterinarian, Conductor, NFL wide receiver or kicker, scientist, singer, actor, etc.

85.) I have a keen sense of when people are talking about me...some people don't hide it very well.

86.) I love how I can get so wrapped up in the fictional characters and their lives in tv and movies...it's just so much fun to let go like that.

    87.) I love clothes.

88.) I am extremely open-minded and very non-judgmental...in my opinion at least.

89.) Even though sometimes I spell wrong, who doesn't, I love spelling.

90.) I'll pretty much always be tired for the rest of my life, because I love to stay up late, and I can do it quite easily, I just pay for it.

    91.) I hate mornings.

92.) I love listening to the male voice, and I really like all male chorus, barbershops etc.

93.) Music really gets my blood flowing and makes me happy, excited and pumped up.

94.) I like to be the best at everything I do...but that's never the case.

95.) I really enjoy board games, and when I can get together with friends and family to play them all evening and into the night.

96.) I'm actually quite opinionated and very aware of the world around me and people and their relationships and their lives...I just don't like to share those opinions or observations, but believe me, I figure these sort of things out.

97.) I love to read, fiction books especially (I can get into the characters), but I also love reading about the histories behind basically anything theatre.

98.) I have to fight everyday to not be as lazy of a person as I can be.

99.) I hate first impressions, even though they're pretty important.

100.) I'm glad I never had to try and find my future wife outside of college (i.e. bars, Internet, blind dates, set-ups, someone I work with) I don't know if it would have happened that way.

    What?! Ok...whatever

So I'm leaving just a touch late from home to get to work today. I do know, however, with the right traffic and me going around 80 mph (like I normally do) that I can make it to work on time. No problem, not worried.

I'm on highway 30 going east toward I-35 and I see a state trooper up ahead, so I slow down to 70 mph and hope that he plans on continuing East towards Nevada. Wrong, with one car between us all three of us are merging on to I-35.

Great...I'm now going to have to go slow until I can get around him to speed up again. This isn't working into my plan of going 80 mph and making it to work on time.

We are on I-35 for a couple minutes, going 70 mph, and I decide it's time to pass the one car and him. I've done this a million times before. I've passed 'em all, state troopers, sheriffs, cop cars, whatever the case may be. Usually I'm around 2 or later in a line of cars that is passing whatever law enforcement car it may be, but the fact remains I've done it numerous times before, it doesn't intimidate me.

I speed up to a whoppin' 71 mph and proceed to slowly pass him. And I put that in italics because it was slow and annoying trying to get up to speed with him to get by him.

Finally I get to almost even windows with him and I decide I'll look over and smile and give him a nice nod or see what he looks like and what he's up to.

    We're even...I look over...

He's got this bad ass look on his face. This mean, ugly look, with the sunglasses bit and all, you know, the most stereotypical looking cop you could find, and he looks over at me with a scowl and lifts his hand into a pointy finger style and points backwards.

    Get behind you? Why?

It had to have been funny if someone was watching me. I looked over with a smile and a nice innocent look and he was bad-ass looking and did that and then face just changes into the most confused look ever.

So I slow down and end up having to get behind two cars and then not a single person tried to pass him the whole way from Ames to Ankeny.

What was his deal? If it was that he thought I was speeding, I can't understand that. I was going 71, he was going 70...if he pulled me over then he better sure as hell pull himself over too.

It was just a big powertrip, I've got to be sure of that.

I'm just wondering what would have happened if I decided NOT to look over at him, would I have been pulled over then?

That was by far the weirdest experience I've had in quite a long time...

Oh, and by the by, I was about 4 minutes late to work. Had this state trooper not been there, I would have been golden. It really did make a difference only going 70 from Ames to Ankeny instead of 75-80 mph.

    Wow

I had so much to talk about in this here blog, but then a field supervisor called with a 1099 problem and it was the most messed up problem I have ever seen. Five hours later I'm still trying to sort it all out and I've got most all of it I can figure out figured out, so now I need to hand it off to someone to finish and that's why I haven't been on blogger to type!

Excel Class -- It was good, I learned some valuable things I did not know before and I appreciate that. The person next to me...the dumbest person I have ever met. She couldn't figure out anything. It was so distracting having her next to me, half the things I ended up showing to her, which was distracting me from listening to the instructor. The instructor, David, could tell that she was just not following along, you know he could because he would walk around our monitors and she was always in some other place doing something completely wrong. He just finally gave up and probably told himself he can't keep waiting behind for her and she is just a hopeless cause. That's what I did half the time, because I was keeping up nicely and I couldn't always be glancing at her monitor to see how incredibly off she was.

I was going to talk about the ridiculousness of professional athletes and their salaries, but I kind of covered it on J's blog.

I was going to comment in Meritt's blog, but I couldn't get in. -- Oh, so cool that little peanut recognized Kaia...we need to come over again or something, Meritt!! Whaddya think?

Doug and Jody have a pretty, cute, adorable baby.

My sister and her little daughter, Claire, born in June, are coming from Arizona tonight for the weekend...that's exciting! Claire and Kaia are getting pictures taken together, and then seperate as well, at Sears. I'll have to scan one and put it up if I can.

I'd put up a picture of Claire, but who knows whether Katie would freak about it being up or not...you just don't know with some people, so best not to.

I'm positive I have more to talk about, but I can't remember what it is anymore...sometimes I feel like I just need to stop blogging, I can't compete, but then I just try to push it from my mind and say, so what? this is for me, if no one reads it, oh well! :-)

    Waiting...

I am here today at an Excel Level II class and I got here at 7:15 am...so I waited...and then at 7:30 am I decided to go to McDonald's for some breakfast, so I went ahead and did that and got a sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit, and drove back to the class site parking lot, ate the sandwich and waited...at 7:50 I decide to go into the class site.

She tells me that the class doesn't start until 8:30am...great...but, there is Internet connection...ok, that'll do. So I come in here and use the Internet until 8:30 am...so I'm waiting...

But, people are starting to show up, so I'd say I don't feel as stupid anymore...but still, I am impatient, I hate waiting...hate it...

See you at the end of the day I bet!

    The Frogs

That's what V got me for Valentine's Day. It's good. This one has Nathan Lane again and Roger Bart. I was already familiar with the show, already having...

with Nathan Lane and Brian Stokes Mitchell.

and having another "recording" of it already with Nathan Lane and Chris Kattan, but I still enjoy it.

New songs for this one too! Still disappointed there's barely any singing for Xeres (Roger Bart, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Chris Kattan).

I definately don't enjoy it as much as other Sondheim work, who is my all-time favorite composer. Sweeney Todd, Into the Woods, Assassins, Merrily We Roll Along, Company, West Side Story, Sunday in the Park with George, Bounce, etc etc etc etc...the list really does go on and on.

Sweeney Todd, Into the Woods, Assassins and West Side Story being my favorite, then we can put The Frogs somewhere in there with the rest. He is a genius.

    My Valentine's Day

Veronica is working till about midnight, so after I picked up Kaia from daycare we went to the flower shop and got Mommy a single rose and a bobble-head frog, she collects frogs.

Then we went to her car while she was at work and we put the flower in the seat and the frog on the dashboard.

Then we went into Target and had supper with Mommy.

Now we're back here and it's almost bedtime!

Kaia got a carebear and some candy from Mommy and Daddy and I got The Frogs cast recording and I got Veronica what I said above and then I also bought her a laptop.

Trust me, we are in no way rich, it was just such a good deal and she wanted something that wasn't such a hog like mine is, so with such a great deal and me still having some money from the work bonus I went ahead and got it for her!

    Good day had by all...

P.S. I got a little bump and grind for the first time in over a month last night...and let me tell you, it was good!

    Flowers

To me...just a big waste of time and money. I'm probably, no wait I know I am in the minority here, but I don't want to waste my time getting flowers for V because that's what I'm suppose to do. If I'm basically being made to do it then it really doesn't have much meaning to it, it then becomes a waste of money. I bought her a laptop, why do I need to buy her flowers too?! But if I don't, I most certainly know I will be in some trouble.

It's like one of women's favorite games to play: "The loaded question game"

Woman: Honey, do you think I'm fat?
    Man: No, you look perfect
    Woman gushes

How does that make you feel any better? You know we had to answer that way! If we didn't we would be in the dog house, so why ask questions where the answer has to be one way and we just give it so we can move on?

W: Honey, do you love me?
M: Yes, of course I love you
    Woman gushes

Why is it even worth the breath? Why not just wait until I say it on my own?

Valentines Day = Get flowers for the girl

Why even go through the time and money to get them for you when I don't even want to? I'll get flowers for you on some random day because I feel the urge and I want to make you happy and those will mean more than stupid Valentine's Day flowers...

It's a stupid holiday that companies made up to make us spend money. I love my wife everyday, why do I need to show it somehow on one particular day?

    Anyway...

Blogger won't let me comment...just keeps taking me back to the comments screen when I click on it, like Bob mentions in his blog.

Meritt - the pictures are awesome :-) The more pictures the merrier really!

I had so much to talk about today but I never got to blogger to type it out so it never got said. Now I don't feel like saying it so this post of mine really sucks but I haven't posted since Friday so I needed to.

UPDATE ON THE DROOPY PANTS BILL

Just as we thought...stupid bill and the Va. lawmakers are frankly embarassed they say.

    Smooth

This new car is smoooooooth, and I enjoy driving it very much! I keep hearing good things about the Dodge Stratus and so this is making me quite happy.

P.S. I see blogger is trying to improve their comments, which sucks, because now if I get rid of haloscan, I get rid of all of those comments...is there a way to get rid of halscan and keep the comments and tranfer them over to blogger comments? I'd just as soon go back to blogger comments personally.

Anyone know? Something with the code maybe?

Hey, I know plenty of grown-ups who read them

The Lemony Snickett books are awesome. I will admit, I hadn't even heard of Lemony Snickett before the movie started being advertised, but then I wanted to see the movie because it looked good and I love Jim Carrey. So, while in Washington at the in-laws my brother-in-law, who is 13, was already on the 12 book in the Series of Unfortunate Events and had seen the movie and he was pumped to take us because I said I wanted to see it and I try to do things with him when we're there. Well the first three books my sister-in-law had bought and they came in a box set so I sat down and read the first one and then we went and saw the movie (which is a culmination of the first three books) and the books are a lot better. I then went back to their house and read the second book and then we had to come home so I got the box set of the first three from V for my birthday and I've read those all now. I just went and bought the next three books, which also come in another box set, and will start reading those.

They are very good, I enjoy them immensly and recommend them to anyone who wants a good series to pick up for a while. I love the way he writes. It is just so smooth and easy to read and he's an outsider who got the story of the Baudelaire orphans and doesn't want to share it with his readers (us) but feels he must because it's an important and interesting story. It's great fun.

    Underwear Police?

    Underwear Police? Maybe in Virginia

Doug, I would like to hear specifically what you think of this. But that doesn't mean I don't want to hear from the rest of you, so speak up!

I can't see how it would be legal...

    New Car :-)

I got a new car last night! They dropped it $3,000 yesterday, and it was car we were eyeing, so we snatched it up!

It's a 2004 Dodge Stratus and it has 15,000 miles on it. It's practically new :-) I'm sure there's some bad things to this car, but from people I've talked to I've heard nothing but good things.

First time I've ever had keyless entry.
First time I've ever had a newer than '97 car(that's the one I have now which will go to Veronica. Previously I have owned an '89 and a '78!)
First time with a CD player!! No more taking a personal CD player in and plugging it in with the tape adapter and either using batteries or using the ac plugged into the lighter.
Very nice size, plenty of room in front seat, back seat, and trunk.
    Excellent mileage.
    Most excellent price.

I'm excited...I get it Thursday...here's a picture of the exact car from the dealer web site.
