Las Vegas Phantom cast announced!

As read on CB.org as reported from broadwayworld.com Click here for the article

Although they are cutting it down to 90 minutes, which is a shame, but what they always do for Las Vegas shows, it's still definitely something I want to hear. In particular because the one, the only, Lawson Skala is playing Firmin!! Even though it's not the most expansive role, he'll still rock it out. And then Brent Barrett is playing Phantom! They say Phantom and Christine and Carlotta are being double cast due to the challenging vocal score and performance schedule, but that's a bunch of bunk because tons of people have played those roles, over and over, with no problem...but whatever. I believe they do perform the show more than 8 times a week in Las Vegas, but I'm not sure of that.

Either way....GOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! I love Lawson Skala, I can't help it. I gushed all over him in my reviews of the two JCSs I saw. I met him at the stagedoor for both, and he's the nicest guy in the world! He is BEYOND talented, as a singer and actor and makeup artist (as he did his own makeup for JCS). I'm really pumped that he's getting more work.

Then Brent Barrett is phenomenal, he's going to be perfect in that role! He was in Kiss Me, Kate, Annie Get Your Gun, Chicago, etc. etc. He has such a melting voice, he was perfect for all three of those shows I mentioned above, but certainly for Billy Flynn in Chicago.

Small Update

Sorry again, folks, but life is hectic! At work I'm away from my desk almost the entire day, have been for weeks now. Getting ready for these events we have to get ready for. Lots of supplies and books and binders and what not to get ready for.

At home, since V and K came home, V has been sick as a dog, so K and I either haven't been home much, or haven't been invading the couch that V has holed herself up on :-) And that's where my laptop is, and as it's not a very lap top laptop I don't move it. I'm very unhappy with my laptop now...and that stinks a lot as I invested a large sum of money into it. Two of the most important parts of the laptop are BROKE, which I think I've blogged about before, so I wont go into it.

Into the Woods is going great! I have Act One memorized, for the most part, which I'm very happy with. We're actually blocking and working on scenes now and it's fun to work the character and it's going well.

Other than that last week Tuesday when it snowed bad I spun out on a side street about 20 feet from work, slammed into a curb, and broke my wheel (the rim). Had to get that fixed, had no choice, so lots of money down the tubes. We are so poor it's not even funny. I haven't had lunch or breakfast in forever.

BRB...boss needs something

aaaaaaannnd, I'm back.

I'm just really stressing out about the lack of money. We've, literally, borrowed hundreds of dollars from my parents twice now. We're waiting for the tax return, just so we can pay my parents back and have a couple hundred leftover to survive on. And I'm sure the tax return is still a good month or more off. I'm pretty sure we wont make it again this month. As of right now I haven't even paid 3/4 of my bills because then we'd overdraft again. I'll just have to pay them late so I can wait until I get paid this Thursday...but then more shit comes out...shit. I don't know why I'm typing all this out right now, it just makes me look like a fool and a loser for not being able to even survive right now, but, so is life.

There's probably so much to say...

Rehearsals are going good! for the most part. My voice is really tired and it hasn't been performing to expectations (for me anyway) and it's really frustrating me. However, for the most pasrt, I'm still doing pretty good. Last night I had choir rehearsal too, and so I sang pretty much from 5:30-9. My voice was shot at nine and is still today. Good thing I don't have to sing until Monday again. Then only for about an hour on Monday.

I am absolutely in LOVE with my part. The Baker is the glue that holds the show together. He learns so much, he teaches lessons, he has such beautiful songs and he's complex...not as complex as the Baker's Wife, but he's complex. He is the focus of the show, and you just couldn't ask for a better part. I'm so excited to explore this part more and grow into it as we go on.

Into the Woods music is SO hard. It's Sondheim for crying out loud! And you theatre people know that's all I need to say. He writes the hardest rhythms, the hardest notes, the hardest words. His scores and books are legendary. He is, in my opinion, and many others, the foremost composer...the greatest musical theatre ocmposer of all time...and he's still alive!! I've talked about him before, so I wont go into it this time.

I've wanted to be in this show since I was about 16 years old and I'm so excited now! The rest of the cast is really talented as well. Some in their own ways, but most of them extremely talented singers which is fantastic! If we can work hard and buckle down this show can be off-the-wall good.

Work, is work, I don't talk about it on here. It's the #1 busy time at work, just hard to explain, but basically working non-stop to get ready for these schools we have with tons of people going to that need lots of stuff. Four schools over a month time and it's not over until the middle of next month.

WHICH, is why I'm not in Washington right now. V and K left Tuesday for Washington because her grandfather passed away suddenly. He was a great man, he was so nice and so giving and I loved spending time with him when we were out there or when him and her grandma came into town. He will be missed.

So, I have the place to myself until Monday night. Have since Tuesday. How did I celebrate? Tuesday I dropped them off, worked, came over and went to rehearsal until 9:30pm. Then watched some TV and went to bed. Wednesday I worked then went to my sister's house until about 10:45pm then had to drive home, got home about 11:15pm, watched some TV in bed and went to bed. Thursday I went right to choir from work and then right to rehearsal from choir and got home about 9:30pm. Did some dishes, watched some TV and went to bed. Tonight? Going home from work...watching TV, cleaning some, watching a movie called "Waiting" and then going to bed. The kicker for Saturday is sleeping in! I know, I know, settle down Lars...right? Yeah! I know!

Other than that having some big money problems, so dealing with that...but oh well.

And that is a small nutshell of what is going on in my life. I DO know that people that I was unaware of now read my blog...which sucks. Luckily I've pretty much been censoring myself from the get go so not too much incriminating is on here.

Auditions are OVER

I am cast. I am cast as the Baker, which is, in essence, the lead male role. There are about five male roles that are sort of all leads, but the Baker would technically be the largest of all.

It's funny, because that role ROCKS and I'm very excited...but it's not either of the roles I wanted.

I wanted more than anything to be Jack. Then I wanted to be one of the princes. But the way the auditions worked out they felt they could best use me as the Baker, which I think it's an awesome honor and I'm excited to take the bull by the horns. The Baker is an awesome role, with plenty of singing and plenty of acting, with duets, solos, a wife, etc etc. Should be so much fun!!!

And I expect you ALL to be there! :-)

Refer always to my poster one post down to see when and where and how to get tickets, but I will be reminding you as I find out tickets are on sale and then as the show gets closer.

Yay!
