Miss Saigon

We went as saw Miss Saigon last night at the Civic Center.

It was goooood :-) I had never seen Miss Saigon before, so I was excited to see a show I hadn't seen before.

It didn't let me down either.

I was going to narrow down who was the strongest, but damn they were almost all good.

  • Jennifer Paz was fantastic as Kim -- just right on last night.

  • Johann Michael Camat was just the best Engineer I'd ever heard! I've heard quite a few, just never seen the show before...I'd single him out as the best performance of the night, with Jennifer a close second, or tieed.

  • Alan Gillespie as Chris was good! He had a few acting problems, but his notes were spot on (despite what Jeffrey Bruner said in his DSM Register article) I was very pleased.

  • Mario Tadeo was just fantastic as Thuy, just spectacular.

  • DJ Oliver as John I guess was a bit of a let down. He was good, just not vocally the strongest by any means. His acting was spot on though, very convincing, I enjoyed his performance...just would have liked to hear a little stronger voice.

The whole cast was just on the ball, they were great and the show is SO good, music, story, staging, costumes, props, wow!

We had a good time :-) Ah, the theatre...how it soothes the soul.

The Last Night of the World
    CHRIS
in a place that won't let us feel
in a life where nothing seems real
    I have found you
    I have found you

    KIM
in a world that's moving too fast
in a world where nothing can last
    I will hold you
    I will hold you

    CHRIS
our lives will change, when tomorrow comes

    KIM
tonight our hearts drown the distant drums

    CHRIS
and we have music all right
    tearing the night

    a song
    played on a solo saxophone
    a crazy sound

    KIM
    a lonely sound

    BOTH
a cry that tells us love goes on and on
    played on a solo saxophone
    it's telling me
    to hold you tight
and dance like it's the last night of the world

    CHRIS
on the other side of the earth
there's a place where life still has worth
    I will take you

    KIM
    I'll go with you

    CHRIS
you won't believe all the things you'll see
I know 'cause you'll see them all with me

    BOTH
    if we're together that's when
    we'll hear it again

    a song
    played on a solo saxophone
    a crazy sound
    a lonely sound
a cry that tells us love goes on and on
    played on a solo saxophone
    it's telling me
    to hold you tight
and dance like it's the last night of the world

    KIM
    dreams
    were all I ever knew

    CHRIS
    dreams
you won't need when I'm through

    BOTH
    anywhere
    we may be
    I will sing with you
    our song. . .

(they dance together in the balcony)

    BOTH
    . . .played on a solo saxophone
    so stay with me
    and hold me tight
    and dance
like it's the last night of the world
